Natracor® (Neseritide or hBNP) treats congestive heart failure triggered by two neuro-hormonal systems; the Renin - Angiotensin - Aldosterone system and the Sympathetic Nervous System. These systems cause sodium and fluid retention and vaso-constriction. hBNP, a counter

regulatory hormone, binds to Guanylate cyclase receptors to reverse the adverse effects of the two systems mentioned above, reducing the risk of congestive heart failure. In its natural form it is found as part of a counter regulatory hormonal system called the Natriuretic Peptide System.
